Anorexia
I offer narrative therapy counselling for those in the grips of anorexia, and their families. My work in this area is spirit enriching, collaborative and passionate in supporting the individual to reclaim their lives against anorexia. In this way I mindfully work from the paradigm shift offered by David Epston and other narrative therapists in the world of anorexia.
Anorexia is one of the most complex mental health issues and, because of this, is one of the most challenging for therapists to support and assist their clients in moving successfully forward. My experience in this area, with the combination of narrative therapy, will give clients and their family’s fresh new hope.
I work with young children, teenagers and women with anorexia.

Combined Therapy for Anorexia: Narrative Therapy and Identity Balancing
This unique blend of balancing the energy of the physical body followed by narrative therapy counselling supports the client’s resilience against anorexia in a multi-dimensional way.
Identity balancing involves gentle energy work to cleanse and balance the client’s mental and physical body. It lies in a similar healing modality as Reiki. The process of calming the mind and body means that the client can be more ‘present’ in the talking practice of narrative therapy.
Identity balancing may also include exploring other avenues that would be healing for the client in building their resilience against anorexia – this may include art, writing, dance or other means of personal joy and expression.
Creative healing:
My own creativity and understanding of narrative therapy means that a therapeutic session, or group of sessions, can be custom made for each client and their family. One client may like to work with narrative therapy only, while another prefers to work with a combined approach. Clients may also weave from one modality to another as they grow stronger in the face of anorexia. The approach is never prescriptive and follows the needs and wishes of the client.
